Det heeft de nieuwsgierigheid om te willen weten hoe iets werkt, leerde zichzelf programmeren en bouwde eigenhandig de digitale wereld die ze voor ogen had. “Kunst kan luchtkastelen maken”, zegt ze. “Je gelooft dat het kan en zonder een vast idee waar je op uitkomt ga je bouwen.” Dat vermogen heeft een prachtig oeuvre opgeleverd.
Det has the curiosity to want to know how
something works, taught herself programming and single-handedly built the digital world she
envisioned. ‘Art can make air castles,’ she says.
’You believe it can be done, and then without a fixed idea of where you’ll end up, you start building.’ That ability has produced a beautiful body of work.

beaamt Det Digit het perspectief van de cyberfeministen volmondig, ze noemt zichzelf geen feminist. Ze is vooral een radicale gelijkheidsdenker – en handelt ook zo.
Det lived on the internet, together with some fictional characters she created. Although Det Digit wholeheartedly agrees with the perspective of cyberfeminists, she does not call herself a feminist. Above all, she is a radical equality thinker – and acts accordingly.
